Overview and Vision
In Personal, Social and Health Education, we aspire to nurture thoughtful and respectful global citizens through a sequence of carefully planned lessons and life experiences. Our children are offered a wealth of opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe and become reflective, articulate and respectful in a context of the ever-changing world in which we live. The school’s mantra of “Be The Best You Can Be” is embedded within every aspect of the school day whether it be the school’s behaviour policy, class displays, presentation or language used around school and thus has an impact on the growth mindset of the children as they are encouraged to try new things, take risks and learn from their mistakes to develop the resilience. This is underpinned by the real-life experiences offered to all children and their families as we take advantage of opportunities to promote British Values and celebrate the diversity within our community through events such as PRIDE, Mental Health Awareness and Anti-Bullying Awareness days to name a few. These opportunities offer our school community a chance to join together to celebrate individuality, be fully inclusive and develop children who are accepting of others regardless of differences which are values we take pride in at Ox Close. Children are taught key terminology and given chances to ask questions, discuss and debate key topics in a safe environment whilst showing respect to the views of others. This offers children opportunities to nurture their confidence and self-esteem so that they can express their true feelings, informed opinions and views of the world in a respectful manner and be curious about the world in which they live. As this is an ever-changing world, staff are offered Continued Professional Development to support them in delivering this curriculum.
