Welcome to our Children’s Leadership Team
The Children’s Leadership Team play an important role at Ox Close and 2 members are elected from each year group (Years 1 to 6). Leadership Team members participate in Class Council discussions with their peers and meet with the Executive Headteacher on a regular basis. During this meetings, members have the opportunity to bring matters to the attention of the Executive Headteacher, while also following an agreed agenda. This agenda is drawn up by the Children’s Champion, who this year is Emily C from 5/6S. Emily was elected as the latest Children’s Champion following a process where all candidates had the opportunity to broadcast speeches to the whole school via Microsoft Teams.
While COVID-19 has presented challenges, a virtual meeting was held on November 19th, with members joining the meeting via Microsoft Teams from their own bubble. The first task which was undertaken by members was to take part in a competition to design a vegetable or fruit character for the school’s kitchen display. Before Christmas, the members will be invited to complete a survey and this will help form a Children’s School Improvement Plan. The Children’s Champion will also have the opportunity to take part in events with school leaders throughout the year, including the recording of a promotional message which will form part of the school’s Virtual Tour for prospective parents and to participate in a virtual Full Governing Body meeting. It is also hoped to arrange for all Children’s Leadership Team members to meet with democratically elected representatives such as councillors and MPs over the course of the academic year.
